Mr. Severino is a litigator with nearly ten years’ experience representing businesses and individuals in a wide range of disputes at all levels of state and federal courts.
Mr. Severino has handled a broad range of complex commercial and civil disputes, including breach of contract, fraud, civil rights, ERISA, bankruptcy and creditor rights, tax disputes and estate litigation. He has also assisted in the receivership or liquidation of insolvent companies and enforcement of judgments and security interests. He has represented clients in mediations, trials and appeals, and before the Internal Revenue Service.
Prior Representative Matters
- Represented personal representative of a decedent’s estate in defense of an action challenging the will filed by daughter of the decedent. Obtained a reversal of an Order of the Orphans’ Court by the Maryland Court of Special Appeals.
- Assisted individual in tax dispute with the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Justice for more than $1 million in taxes allegedly owed by individual.
- Assisted business owners in obtaining and enforcing judgment of over Six Hundred Thousand Dollars after adverse party failed to pay remaining money owed for the purchase of clients’ business.
- Represented sales agent in obtaining unpaid commissions. After trial in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County, the judge awarded the sales agent her commissions and attorneys’ fees.
- Represented individual in civil rights claims after assault at Maryland youth home. Obtained favorable settlement for client.
- Obtained favorable ruling in Federal Court for Maryland company and individuals sued for breach of contract, tortious interference with contractual relations and libel.
- Assisted several small businesses in the assignment of the businesses’ assets to a trustee for distribution to creditors.
- Assisted several commercial landlords in landlord-tenant disputes and obtaining judgments for unpaid rent.
