Randi graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law, with high honors, in 1994. She spent her first year after law school serving as an appellate law clerk to the late Honorable John J. Bishop, Jr., Court of Special Appeals of Maryland. Randi began her work as a lawyer in 1995 and has been practicing management-side labor and employment law since her very first day. She started her career at Kollman & Saucier, P.A., where she worked as a labor and employment law associate from 1995 through 2001. In November 2001, Randi left K&S to practice labor and employment law with another well-respected Baltimore firm, where she made partner in 2004. Randi returned to Kollman & Saucier as a partner in November 2009, and has continued devoting her practice to management labor and employment law.
Randi is licensed to practice in Maryland and District of Columbia, in both the state and federal courts of each jurisdiction. Randi is also admitted to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Randi has represented employers nationwide in all areas of labor and employment law. She has represented clients before various state and federal agencies, as well as defending lawsuits in state and federal courts, on both the trial and appellate level. She regularly defends against claims of employment discrimination, unfair labor practices, state law employment tort and breach of contract claims, wage and hour claims, and so on. Randi has significant experience defending against federal and state occupational safety and health regulations violations, from the de minimus up through willful fatalities.
Randi enjoys providing advice and counsel to clients on personnel matters and working collaboratively to avoid litigation. She ensures that her clients receive thorough and appropriate (legal and practical) advice. Most importantly, each client will understand options and the consequences of its decisions so that employment actions today do not result in lawsuits tomorrow. In conjunction with advice and counsel, Randi regularly conducts training sessions for both managerial and non-managerial staff on the various labor and employment law topics that warrant workplace education.
In addition to her law practice, Randi is a member of the Women Lawyers Alliance and is President of the DC/Maryland/Northern Virginia Chapter of the WLA. Randi has also been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Baltimore School of Law, teaching both Legal Writing and Employment Law. Randi serves as a mentor to first year law students at UB and has enjoyed that position for several years now.
Randi has been a contributing editor for multiple labor and employment law treatises, including Matthew Bender’s “An Employer’s Guide to the Occupational Safety and Health Act,” “The Americans with Disabilities Act,” “Employee Discipline and Discharge” and “The Employment Law Deskbook.” Randi has also served as a Contributing Editor for the ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law’s Publication: The Fair Labor Standards Act. Randi writes a regular legal column for the Restoration Industry Association’s monthly publication, Cleaning and Restoration.
Randi went to Virginia Tech. She had planned on becoming an engineer but quickly changed course when she realized her creativity would not fit into the math-based mold. She majored in sociology and then went directly to law school when she did not see many ads in the newspaper for sociology majors. Randi was very involved while a student at the University of Baltimore, serving as a Teaching Assistant, Research Assistant and a member and editor of the University of Baltimore Law Review, among other endeavors.
Randi is married to a local Baltimore guy (who is not a lawyer!) and they have two school age kids, both of whom play a lot of sports (which provides Randi with many reasons to do a lot of sideline cheering). Randi is very active in her children’s school, and has been an Executive Board Member of the school’s Parent Association since 2009.
Randi has been running since 2005 (it was a dare) and has competed in dozens of various distance races since then. Her fourth (and final) marathon was the Philadelphia Marathon in 2010, for which her husband’s company, EnduraFit, was the sponsor. Randi continues to enjoy longer distance running but focuses on ten mile and half marathon distance courses, which gives her more time to be cheering on the sidelines of her kids’ games.
